Looking to deepen your practice or learn more about yoga?
Is it time for a change? If not now then when?
Feeling stuck, or as if something missing in your life?
Ever wonder how life, your work, your job, your love could feel as good as savasana or as empowering as your practice?
Start living your practice.
Life is yoga. Begin your journey of true awareness in your life. Breath by breath you will learn how to bridge the gap between what you feel and how you move on your mat, and how you feel and how you move through your life. Learn the fine craft of weaving your everyday life into your yoga practice and conversely, applying the yoga on your mat to your everyday life.
EMpowerment Vinyasa Yoga (EMVY) training will give you the tools and techniques to teach everyday people (including yourself) everyday yoga. You will go beyond simply learning the fundamentals and mechanics of the physical asanas. You will learn, practice, and master the ability to live and to teach the 8 limbs of yoga. You will learn to find your own voice, your own unique style in your teaching that empowers, inspires, and motivates not just students and those around you, but also yourself.
Vinyasa is simply breath and movement. And we firmly believe there is a huge difference between “power” and “empower(ment)”. Therefore the essence of EMVY is empowering students through the art of teaching and their physical practice of yoga by creating a safe and healthy, explorative environment primed for powerful, personal transformation on and off the mat. This yoga—EMVY—is for everyone, every(body), and is accessible to all.
Teaching EMVY begins with a process of accessing your life, lessons, and raw, honest emotions like fear, guilt, love, pain, loss, happiness, laughter, and everything in between. It transitions through learning and being willing to access and feel these pieces of you and your life through your mind, heart and body in the asanas—your physical practice of yoga—and applying breath and the other limbs of yoga to whatever is arising within you. It becomes the art of connecting the poses and sensations that arise on your mat to the experiences and challenges that arise in your everyday life and vice versa. It becomes the real practice of yoga: fusing the heart, mind, body and soul through physical, everyday practice on and off your mat. And it evolves into the art of giving: empowering yourself and those around you by teaching the practice of yoga through the practice of your life, in or outside of a studio.
It matters not, whether you ever plan to professionally, so to speak, teach yoga to other individuals. You are always your own teacher. And through simply being, you are a teacher to those around you.
“Teaching” aside, this training will deepen your understanding of the physical asanas and their anatomy—in other words, your body. You will learn: the anatomy of vinyasa flow and standing poses, twists and backbends, arm balances and inversions, and hip openers and forward bends; how to teach a pose; how to create and sequence a class based on energy, life lessons, benefits or ailments; and how to physically assist in each pose. You will also learn the body’s energy system, or chakras and chanting; be guided through and practice meditation techniques and mindfulness-based stress reduction training; study the 8 limbs of yoga and yoga sutras, i.e. yoga philosophy; and learn concrete, accessible ways to put your yoga to work off the mat.
